Genie-rific Creations: Game Development from Concept to Completion

Situation

I was tasked with developing Genie-rific Creations, a Shimmer and Shine game for Noggin. As the sole artist on the project, I was responsible for all artwork, animation, and art direction.

Task

To create a high-quality game that met the brand's standards and deliver a seamless user experience, all within the project's tight timelines.

My work needed to secure buy-in from the Nickelodeon team and clearly communicate the visual direction to the development team.

Action

To manage this project successfully and ensure alignment with the brand and the project timeline, I executed the following steps:

• Interface Design: Developed initial sketches of the interface design, focusing on user-friendly layouts that aligned with the Shimmer and Shine theme. These sketches were critical in securing buy-in from the Nickelodeon team.
• Character Design: Created detailed sketches of new original and existing characters, ensuring they were visually appealing and true to the brand.
• Artwork and Animation: Produced all the artwork and animations needed for the game. This involved designing vibrant backgrounds, engaging characters, and fluid animations.
• Art Direction: Ensured all visual elements were cohesive and maintained a high standard of quality throughout the project. Detailed sketches played a key role in helping the team understand the visuals being created.
• Integration: Worked closely with the development team to integrate the art assets and animations into the game, ensuring a seamless user experience.

Result

The project was completed successfully, with the final product receiving positive feedback for its engaging design and high-quality visuals. The detailed sketches were instrumental in getting buy-in from the Nickelodeon team and ensuring a smooth development process.
